Research interest and area:

1. Integration and processing of sensory information in the brain. How the brain processing the sensory information, such as vision, odor, sound and body sensation, in complex problems remains unclear. We will study the integration and computation of sensory information in neural networks through calcium imaging. This study aims to improve our understanding of the neuron circuit, especially how the brain transforms the sensory information into a compatible pattern with complex cognitive activities.

2. Plasticity of neural networks in learning and memory. Neural networks have critical functional and structural changes in the process of learning and memory. We will use optogenetics and pharmacogenetics to study the changes in network connections between different neural populations, during learning and memory, to understand their effects on learning and memory.
